INDICATIONS AND OUTCOMES OF HINGED TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY AT VIET DUC UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To review the indications and evaluate the outcomes of hinged total knee arthroplasty at Viet Duc University Hospital. Subjects and Methods: The study included 5 patients who underwent hinged total knee arthroplasty at Viet Duc University Hospital from 2022 to 2025. This is a descriptive study. Results: All 5 cases of hinged total knee arthroplasty included 2 cases of giant cell tumor at the distal femur, 1 case of aseptic loosening of a prosthetic joint, and 2 cases following the placement of antibiotic spacers due to deep periprosthetic joint infections. All 5 patients achieved good to excellent postoperative outcomes based on the KSS (Knee Society Score) and KFS (Knee Function Score), were able to return to daily activities, and no postoperative complications were recorded. Conclusion: Properly indicated hinged knee replacement surgery provides effective pain relief and promotes early and good functional recovery in patients.
