RESULTS OF USING VOMER FLAP AT THE SAME TIME AS LIP RECONSTRUCTION SURGERY IN PATIENTS WITH CLEFT LIP AND PALATE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cleft lip and palate (CLP), especially bilateral complete cleft lip and palate, is a severe congenital craniofacial anomaly that significantly affects feeding, speech, facial growth, and the psychological well-being of both the child and their family. Early surgical repair of the lip and palate is a critical component of the comprehensive treatment strategy for children with CLP. Objective: To evaluate the preliminary surgical outcomes of simultaneous nasal septal flap reconstruction during primary cleft lip repair in patients with unilateral complete CLP. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive case series was conducted on 26 patients with unilateral complete CLP who underwent surgery at E Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital from June 2024 to August 2025. Results: Postoperative bleeding occurred in 1 out of 26 patients (3.8%). At the 3-month postoperative follow-up, 23/26 patients (88.5%) achieved complete healing of the nasal septal flap; 2/26 patients (7.7%) showed approximately 60% flap healing, and 1 patient (3.8%) had flap failure.
