CESAREAN SECTION RATE AND INDICATIONS BASED ON THE ROBSON CLASSIFICATION AT PHU BINH HOSPITAL, THAI NGUYEN

Abstract

This study included 589 pregnant women who delivered at Phu Binh Hospital, Thai Nguyen, from January to December 2024. Objective: To determine the cesarean section rate, classify cesarean section according to the Robson system, and review some common indications. Results: The overall cesarean section rate was 53.1%. The groups contributing most to the cesarean section rate were Group 5, Group 1, and Group 3, accounting for 29.68%, 14.84%, and 11.13%, respectively. Among maternal indications, previous cesarean section (48.9%) and maternal anemia (8.8%) were the most frequent. For fetal indications, the most common were macrosomia (13.4%) and fetal distress (14.4%). Among other reasons, failure of cervical dilatation was the leading indication, observed in 19.2% of cases.
