Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the surgical outcomes of plate fixation in the treatment of closed clavicle fractures at Thai Binh Medical University Hospital. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 45 patients with closed clavicle fractures who underwent plate fixation from June 2022 to December 2023. Results: The majority of patients achieved primary wound healing (97.8%). Postoperative X-rays showed satisfactory anatomical alignment without displacement in 93.4% of cases. Surgical incisions healed well in 95.6% of patients, and good bone union was observed in 95.6%, with only 2 patients (4.4%) experiencing delayed union. The mean time to return to work was 7.35 ± 1.27 weeks. The mean Constant score was 92.4 ± 6.2 points. Overall, good outcomes accounted for 86.7%, fair for 8.9%, moderate for 4.4%, and no poor outcomes were recorded. Conclusion: Plate fixation for clavicle fractures provides excellent anatomical reduction, satisfactory bone union, and favorable functional recovery.
