Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the causes of trabeculectomy failure and evaluate the clinical outcomes of surgical bleb revision in patients with primary glaucoma following a failed initial trabeculectomy. Subjects: A total of 10 eyes with primary glaucoma, including 7 eyes with primary angle-closure glaucoma and 3 eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma, all of which had experienced failure after the first trabeculectomy. Methods: A prospective descriptive study. Results: At 3 months postoperatively, the mean intraocular pressure (IOP) decreased from 28.5 ± 5.9 mmHg to 14,6 ± 2.1 mmHg, with a stable mean IOP reduction of over 40%. None of the patients required antiglaucoma medications following surgery. Bleb morphology improved in all cases. No postoperative complications were observed in any of the 10 eyes studied.
