Abstract

Objectives: Assessment of willingness to pay for vaccine of medical students at the School of Medicine, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2020 to July 2021, using a discretechoice experiment method, through indirect questionnaires, to determine a pay threshold corresponding to vaccine characteristics. Random utility model with logistic regression is applied to analyze the payment threshold and related factors. Results: A total of 318 students participating in the study with 15,264 vaccine options with different characteristics for all threetypes of outbreaks with different morbidity and severity rates. The payment threshold depends on the characteristics of the vaccine such as vaccine efficacy, duration of protection, whether the vaccine is recommended by the press, health authorities or not. Conclusion: The willingness to pay for different epidemics have a clear difference, depending on the characteristics of the vaccine and the severity of the disease.
