Abstract

Objective: The study analysed some factors related to treatment compliance of hypertensive patients in Hiep Thuan commune, Phuc Tho district, Hanoi city. Method: Cross-sectional study on 173 patients diagnosed with hypertension (HTA) being managed at the Hiep Thuan commune health station, Phuc Tho district, Hanoi city, selected by random method, surveyed by a self-completed questionnaire via Google form and directly surveyed by printed form. Results: Occupational factors, cost of treatment of hypertension, relationship with doctor, distance from home to treatment facility, self-study of information, treatment of hypertension, knowing the treatment effects of drugs being used, concern about possible side effects of medicines, doubting the treatment effectiveness of drugs, feeling the amount of drugs being used, were related to treatment compliance (p<0.05). Conclusion: Research shows that adherence to antihypertensive treatment is associated with several demographic factors. Counselling, financial support and strengthening of the physician-patient relationship are needed to improve community treatment adherence.
