ASSESSMENT OF CHANGES IN CENTRAL CORNEAL THICKNESS AFTER SMARTSIGHT SURGERY AT DONG DO HOSPITAL IN 2024 – 2025

Abstract
Purpose: To compare central corneal thickness before and after SmartSight surgery. Methods: A prospective descriptive study was observed on 292 eyes (146 patients) with myopic and myopic astigmatism who had been operated by SmartSight surgery. Central corneal thickness was evaluated preoperatively, 1week, 1month and 3 months postoperatively. Results: The mean preoperative spherical equivalent was -5,11 ± 1,74 D. It decreased significantly postoperatively (0,30 ± 0,65 D at day 1; 0,15 ± 0,57 at week 1; 0,09 ± 0,59 at month 1), with a significant difference between day 1 and week 1 (p=0,000). Central corneal thickness also differed significantly between week 1 and month 1 (p=0,014). A strong correlation was found between preoperative spherical equivalent and the percentage change in central corneal thickness (a = 6,58 - 1,75 x b; r = 0,852; p < 0,001). Conclusion: Central corneal thickness decreased significatively after surgery and was stable after one week of operation. A positive correlation has been observed between the preoperative levels of myopie and the change of central corneal thickness.
