SELF-CARE STATUS OF SCHILLISM PATIENTS AT HAI DUONG MENTAL HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract

Objective: Describe the current status of self-care of schizophrenic patients at Hai Duong Mental Hospital in 2024. Research subjects and methods: cross-sectional descriptive study with a convenient sample size of 67 schizophrenic patients treated at Hai Duong Mental Hospital. Results: The self-care ability of schizophrenic patients is significantly impaired, 29 people (43.28%) need help, 9 people (13.44%) are completely dependent on caregivers. Most patients have problems in forgetting how to perform daily activities such as wearing clothes backwards, facing the wrong way, not bathing properly... of which, 31 people (46.27%) need help with eating and dressing; 29 people (43.28%) need help with bathing; 23 people (34.33%) need help with moving and going to the toilet; 12 people (17.91%) have involuntary control of their sphincter muscles. Conclusion: The ability of schizophrenic patients to take care of themselves is greatly reduced. Most patients forget how to perform daily activities such as wearing clothes backwards, facing the wrong way, not bathing properly.
