Abstract

Objectives: To assess the current situation and propose solutions to improve the quality of medical examination, treatment, and management of dermatological diseases at Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital. Materials and method: A cross-sectional study based on information regarding the organizational structure, human resources, infrastructure, medical equipment, clinical activities, and dermatological disease management at Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital in 2023. Results: The assessment showed that three groups of dermatological technical services could not be implemented, two groups were partially implemented, and a total of 29 out of 141 technical procedures (20.56%) were implemented, while 112 out of 141 procedures (79.44%) had not yet been implemented. The survey also indicated that among 16 groups of dermatological inpatients, 14 out of 136 disease categories (9.99%) were recorded, with a total of 273 patients, corresponding to an average of 0.75 newly admitted patients per day. Conclusion: The current situation indicates that the organizational structure and human resources do not adequately meet requirements; infrastructure and medical equipment are insufficient; and the implementation of professional dermatological services remains suboptimal.
