CHARACTERISTICS OF INTERVERTEBRAL DISC HERNIATION IMAGED WITH 1.5 TESLA MRI AT BAI CHAY HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objectives: Describe the image of disc herniation on 1.5 Tesla MRI. Methods: Descriptive study of 81 patients diagnosed with a diagnosis of disc herniation on 1.5 Tesla MRI from January 2024 to April 2024 at diagnostic imaging department of Bay Chay Hospital. Results: Through the study of 81 patients with disc herniation, we found that the majority were female with 52 patients accounting for 64.2%, the remaining 29 were male patients accounting for 35.8%. The female/male ratio was 1.79. Disc herniation was most common at L4-L5 (88.9%) and L5-S1 (76.5%). The most common type of disc herniation was posterior herniation (100%) and central herniation (54.3%). Along with that were images of nerve root compression (98.8%), nucleus pulposus degeneration (88.9%), loss of physiological spinal curve (29.6%), annular fibrous tear (17.3%) and spondylolisthesis (4.9%).
