Abstract

Introduction: Political and ideological education plays an important role in the educational program of today’s students. To describe the reality of political and ideological education for the Youth Union members and students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2023 and find out some factors related to the political and ideological education in the school in 2023. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with an analysis of over 400 students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and a qualitative research on 4 research subjects, including the school Principal, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union and President of the Student Association from September to December 2023. Results: The results recorded that the students’ correct knowledge about political and ideological education accounted for 89.8%. The second-year students have more correct knowledge about political and ideological education than the third-year students. The students studying clinical majors have better knowledge about political and ideological education than those studying other majors. The students who participate in the associations such as the Youth Union, Student Association and Party members have better knowledge about political and ideological education than those who do not participate with p < 0.05. The qualitative research also recorded similar results to quantitative research. Conclusion: The students’ knowledge of political and ideological education is quite good. It is necessary to increase the students’ knowledge about ideological and political education.
