Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) on improving breast cancer awareness among women in selected rural areas of Hai Duong Province. Subjects and Methods: A community-based intervention study was conducted among 309 women aged 20–59 years in three rural communes of Hai Duong. Data were managed and analyzed using SPSS software version 20.0. Results: The mean breast cancer awareness scores in both intervention groups increased significantly after 3 months and 6 months (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Health education programs based on the Health Belief Model should be developed and implemented to enhance women’s health and reduce breast cancer mortality among women in rural areas.
