Abstract

Objective: To determine the oral health care knowledge, attitudes, practices, and their correlations among first- and second-year students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi, in 2025. Subject and methods: A cross-sectional survey of 226 first- and second-year students aged 18–25 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities using a questionnaire on knowledge, attitudes, and practices on Oral health care. Results: Some basic items (KT2, KT5, KT8) had very high correct response rates, whereas deeper knowledge questions (KT3, KT4, KT6) showed substantial “Don’t know” and incorrect answers. Clear differences were observed across knowledge, attitudes, and practices: knowledge remained uneven, attitudes were largely positive, but practices were highly dispersed with “Disagree” predominating. Conclusions: Oral health care knowledge was uneven, with basic concepts well understood but more advanced knowledge still limited. Attitudes were generally positive, yet practices did not align, as many essential behaviors were insufficiently performed. Knowledge showed a positive but moderate correlation with attitudes and practices, indicating the need to strengthen education and behavioral interventions for students.
