THE CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY OF NASAL-ETHMOID-ORBITAL FRACTURES IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE TRAUMA AT VIET DUC UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, 2018 - 2023

Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical characteristics and computed tomography of nasal-ethmoid-orbital fractures in patients with multiple trauma at Viet Duc University Hospital from 2018 to 2023. Methods: Applying a prospective cross-sectional study method, combined with retrospective data on patients with multiple trauma with nasal-ethmoid-orbital fractures at Viet Duc University Hospital, 2018-2023. Results: The study was conducted on 61 patients with multiple trauma with nasal-ethmoid-orbital fractures at Viet Duc University Hospital, 2018-2023. The results showed that the most common age group was 15-49 years old, the majority of whom were men. Clinical symptoms showed diverse soft tissue injuries, open wounds accounted for 72.1%; symptoms in the nose and eyes with a high rate such as nasal tower deformity (60.7%), decreased/loss of vision (55.7%). The diverse and prominent CT images include the lacrimal defect-inferior orbital margin fracture line 100%, 98.4% echinococcygeal sinus fluid collection, and 85.2% frontotemporal-HT fracture line. Conclusion: The study described the clinical features and computed tomography of naso-ethmoidal-orbital fractures in patients with multiple trauma at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital from 2018 to 2023. The problem is complex, requiring assessment of diverse clinical features combined with computed tomography images to correctly classify nasal-ethmoid-orbital fractures types, which will help guide appropriate treatment.
