Abstract

Background: Genital warts are common sexually transmitted diseases, caused by HPV (Human Papillomavirus). It usually recurrent and there is no single method to cure completely, especially for large sized or horny warts. Objectives: To evaluate the treatment results of laser CO₂ in genital wart at the Dermatology and Venereology Department of Viet Tiep Hosspital from October 2024 to March 2025. Materials and methods: Describes a series of cases. Patients were treated by laser CO₂ and followed up for 3 months. Results: The mean age of the patient group was 37,24 ± 14,3 years with more male than female (73,3% versus 26,7%). The severity of lesion in the well-responding treatment group was predominantly mild and moderate (53,6% and 25%); In contrast, the poorly-responding treatment group had a higher proportion of moderate and severe (35,3% and 29,4%). 82.2% of patients lesion clearance after a single treatment session. Common post-treatment complications included pain (20%) and edema (11.1%). The recurrence rate after treatment was 26.7%, with the majority occurring within the first month (15.6%). Conclusion: Laser CO₂ is highly effective in the treatment of genital warts; however, it should be combined with other methods to reduce the risk of recurrence.
