Abstract

A cross-sectional, descriptive survey of 308 second-year medical students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of voluntary blood donation, along with related factors. The results showed that the majority of students had adequate knowledge about voluntary blood donation (86.0%) and positive attitude (86.0%), with the main motivation being to help people (90.9%); 89.6% were willing to donate blood. Regarding practice: 71.1% of students had donated blood, however, the frequency of blood donation was low. The study showed that positive attitude and participation in the Blood Donation Club were significantly related, promoting voluntary blood donation behavior.
