Abstract

This study aimed to assess the prevalence of microalbuminuria and its associated factors in patients newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellius. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 200 newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellius patients who had been receiving outpatient care at Dong Anh General Hospital for less than one year. Research result for found: Average age 59.55± 11.76 years old, with a recent detection rate og about 51%, mainly is through regular screening and health checks. Proportion of patients with microalbuminuria (MAU) positive accounts for 40.5%, of which 38.5% have MAU (+) when proteinuria is negative (p< 0.05). In which HbA1c has a close linear relationship occurrence of MAU and early kidney damage (p< 0.05).
