Abstract

Objective: To describe the CS characteristics of full-term pregnancy women at Than Uyen Medical Center, Lai Chau province in 2024. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 883 pregnant women with gestational age from 37-41 weeks delivery at Than Uyen Medical Center. Results: The CS proportion of full-term pregnancy at Than Uyen Medical Center was 28.1%. The proportion of CS indication due to maternal eclampsia and pre-eclampsia was 2.4%. The proportion of CS indication due to contracted pelvis was 1.6%; previous CS 38.7%; cervical dystocia 16.1%. The proportion of CS indication due to breech presentation was 5.6%; shoulder presentation 1.6%; fetal macrosomia 16.5%; tachycardia/ bradycardia/ irregular fetal heart rate 9.3%; unengaged presenting part 13.3%. The proportion of CS indication due to premature rupture of membranes, early rupture of membranes was 19.0%; oligohydramnios 10.5%; placenta previa 1.2%. The proportion of CS indication due to family request for CS was 4.4%; prolonged labor 1.6%. The proportion of CS indication due to maternal morbidities was 3.6%; due to birth canal 58.1%; due to fetus 41.1% and due to fetal adnexa 31.0%. Conclusion: The overall CS proportion of full-term pregnancy at Than Uyen Medical Center is at moderate level and most of CS indications are due to birth canal and fetus.
