THE PREVALENCE OF POSITIVE THYROID AUTOANTIBODIES AND THYROID DYSFUNCTION IN INFERTILE WOMEN
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To determine the prevalence of positive thyroid autoantibodies and thyroid dysfunction in infertile women. Methods: This study subjects included women who met the World Health Organization (WHO) diagnostic criteria for infertility and underwent testing for TSH, FT4, TPOAb, and TGAb. The related factors surveyed included: age, BMI, history of miscarriage or stillbirth, type of infertility, prolactin, AMH. Results: The prevalence of positive thyroid autoantibodies in infertile women was as follows: TPOAb positive (7.5%), TGAb positive (9.9%), both TPOAb and TGAb positive (5.2%), either TPOAb or TGAb positive (12.2%). The prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in infertile women was 8.9%, specifically: subclinical hypothyroidism (4.7%), overt hypothyroidism (2.8%), subclinical hyperthyroidism (0.9%), and overt hyperthyroidism (0.5%). Conclusion: The prevalence of TPOAb positivity was 7.5%, TGAb positivity 9.9%, and thyroid dysfunction 8.9% among infertile women.
