Abstract

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common endocrine disorders in pregnancy, defined as impaired glucose tolerance that begins or is first detected during pregnancy. Objectives: 1. Describe the status of gestational diabetes in pregnant women visiting Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2024. 2. Describe some related factors in the above pregnant women. Subjects and methods: Prospective descriptive study on 1012 pregnant women who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria during the study period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 at Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Calculate OR (95% CI) to determine the association, multivariate regression analysis of some factors related to gestational diabetes, p <0.05 is considered statistically significant. Results and conclusions: The incidence of gestational diabetes in the study population was 28.8%. Independent factors related to gestational diabetes included pregnant women ≥ 35 years old, overweight and obese BMI ≥ 23 and history of giving birth to a baby ≥ 4000g with OR (95% CI) of 1.65(1.01 - 3.59), 1.95(0.88 - 3.91) and 2.46(0.68- 6.37), respectively.
