Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical characteristics of orthodontic patients indicated for maxillary canine distalization using T-loop made of Blue Elgiloy, and to evaluate the clinical outcomes of canine distalization in this group of patients. Subjects and Methods: The study was conducted on 15 orthodontic patients aged 14 years and older, with a total of 20 canines indicated for distalization. The study period was from December 2024 to July 2025, carried out at Hai Phong University of Medicine Hospital. Research parameters included: general characteristics of the subjects, masticatory habits, types of malocclusion, skeletal patterns, and canine-specific characteristics such as angulation, rotation, and extrusion during the treatment process. Results: Maxillary canine distalization using Blue Elgiloy T-loop showed good clinical effectiveness. After 18 weeks, the mean amount of distal movement was 16.8 ± 0.9 mm, with good control of canine rotation, angulation, and extrusion. Conclusion: The use of Blue Elgiloy T-loop for maxillary canine distalization is effective and provides good control over the angulation, rotation, and extrusion of the canine during orthodontic treatment.
