HEALTH LITERACY OF PEOPLE TYPE 2 DIABETES AND SOME ASSOCIATED FACTORS AT THU DUC HOSPITAL

Abstract
Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from November 2023 to July 2024 on 400 patients with type 2 diabetes, aged 18 years and older, outpatient at Thu Duc hospital to investigate the health literacy levels and associated factors among patients.. The study used the DHLS Asian health culture survey toolkit by author Lee Eun Hyun. Research results shown that the average health energy score is 40.0 ± 13.0. Among them, 155 (38.8%) patients with diabetes type 2 have excellent health literacy and 245 (61.2%) patients have limited health literacy. Using Chi-square and Fisher tests shows that there is a relationship between health literacy and the following factors: age group, marital status, educational level, average income, ability to pay for necessary medical services (p < 0.05).
