Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of physical therapy combined with exercise therapy in patients with periarthritis of the shoulder. Subjects and Methods: Thirty-five patients diagnosed with periarthritis of the shoulder and voluntarily participating in the study, were included. Patients underwent a combined regimen of physical therapy and exercise therapy. Treatment outcomes before and after 21 days of intervention were compared. Results: A total of 45.7% of patients achieved good treatment outcomes, and 37.1% achieved fairly good outcomes. The mean VAS pain score decreased significantly from 6,0 ± 0.8 before treatment to 1.88 ± 1.15 after treatment. Shoulder joint functional scores improved from 45.54 ± 17.74 before treatment to 84.82 ± 12.32 after treatment, with statistically significant differences. Shoulder range of motion improved markedly across all movement planes, also with statistically significant changes. Conclusion: Physical therapy combined with exercise therapy is effective in the treatment of periarthritis of the shoulder
