TREATMENT OUTCOMES OF ALOPECIA AREATA USING INTRALESIONAL TRIAMCINOLONE INJECTION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the treatment outcomes of localized alopecia areata (AA) and factors associated with response to intralesional triamcinolone. Materials and Methods: Study Design and Subjects: A descriptive observational study was conducted on 14 AA patients attending hospitals and clinics from May to October 2025. Hair regrowth response was assessed using the SALT score and clinical photographs at T0 (baseline), T1 (4 weeks), T2 (8 weeks), independently evaluated by a dermatologist. Results: Median SALT score decreased from 38.5 at baseline to 10.0 at 8 weeks, indicating significant treatment efficacy. After 8 weeks, 78,6% of patients achieved SALT50–75 and 57,1% achieved SALT ≥75 (p<0.05). Our study did not observe any significant association between the therapeutic response to intralesional triamcinolone and demographic variables such as age or sex, nor with clinical factors including disease duration, baseline severity of alopecia. Conclusion: Intralesional Triamcinolone administered in two sessions spaced four weeks apart demonstrated a high therapeutic response rate in patients with alopecia areata, with 78.6% achieving a good clinical response. No treatment-related adverse events were observed throughout the study period.
