Abstract

Objectives: To describe the current status and propose strategies to improve breastfeeding knowledge among women in the postpartum period at the General Obstetrics Department, National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2025. Material and Method: A total of 400 women receiving postpartum maternal health care at the General Obstetrics Department, National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2025. A cross-sectional descriptive study design was employed. Results: The proportion of women with adequate breastfeeding knowledge was high, accounting for 85.5%, while 14.5% demonstrated insufficient knowledge. Conclusions: The majority of women in the postpartum period had adequate knowledge about breastfeeding while 14.5% still lacked correct understanding. Interventions are recommended to provide more comprehensive breastfeeding education, including: implementing health education programs for both postpartum and pregnant women at healthcare facilities and within the community, as well as guiding mothers to update their breastfeeding knowledge through reliable information sources
