Abstract

Objectives: To survey the clinical characteristics and radiographic images of closed femoral shaft fractures in adults treated with interlocking SIGN nails at Thai Binh General Hospital. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 44 patients with closed femoral shaft fractures. Results: Males accounted for 75% of the cases, and femoral shaft fractures were predominantly found in the 18-30 age group (40.9%). Traffic accidents were the primary cause (77.3%). According to the AO classification, simple fractures were the most common (50%), followed by wedge fractures (31.7%) and complex fractures (18.3%). Most cases exhibited significant displacement (88.6%), limb deformity (93.2%), and limb shortening (86.4%). Conclusion: Interlocking SIGN nailing for the treatment of closed femoral shaft fractures in adults is applicable for fracture patterns categorized as types A, B, and C according to the AO classification.
