PREVALENCE AND PATTERNS OF DYSLIPIDEMIA AMONG PREDIABETIC PATIENTS ATTENDING THAI BINH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objectives: To determine the prevalence and describe the patterns of dyslipidemia among prediabetic patients attending Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 104 individuals with prediabetes. Data on anthropometric characteristics, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, and serum lipid components were collected. Results: The mean age of participants was 66.66 ± 9.90 years, and females accounted for 55.8%. The mean BMI was 22.39 ± 2.81 kg/m², with most participants having a normal BMI. The prevalence of hypertension was 37.5%. The overall prevalence of dyslipidemia was 66.3%. Single-component dyslipidemia was the most common pattern (38.5%). The most frequent phenotypes were isolated hypertriglyceridemia and isolated hypercholesterolemia. Conclusions: Dyslipidemia is highly prevalent among prediabetic patients. Early lipid screening is necessary to help reduce cardiovascular risk.
