CLINICAL AND PARACLINICAL STATUS OF PATIENTS SUSPECTED OF PERIPHERAL ARTERY AT VINH PHUC GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2024-2025

Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical symptoms of patients suspected of having Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) at Vinh Phuc General Hospital in 2024-2025. Research method: A descriptive study with convenient sampling was conducted at the Cardiovascular Intervention Department, Vinh Phuc General Hospital, on 150 patients suspected of having PAD who met the inclusion criteria. Results: Clinical characteristics of the patients showed that 52% of patients admitted did not have significant lower extremity pain; however, up to 24% of patients had severe limb ischemia (pain at rest or ulceration/necrosis of the limb). The mean ABI index was significantly lower in the PAD group (0.65±0.28) compared to the non-PAD group (1.09± 0.16), confirming that the ankle-brachial systolic blood pressure (ABI) index is a strong indicator for screening (p<0.001). The study noted a high prevalence of PAD (48%) in this high-risk patient population, significantly higher than in community-based screening studies, reflecting the disease burden and systemic atherosclerosis in patients treated at specialized facilities.
