Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the anatomical and cosmetic outcomes of limbal dermoid excision using limbal conjunctival autograft transplantation. Subjects and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 45 eyes of 45 patients with limbal dermoid, treated with tumor excision combined with limbal conjunctival autograft at the Vietnam National Eye Hospital from January 2018 to April 2025. Results: A total of 45 patients (45 eyes) were included in the study, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:1. The mean age was 13.1 ± 6.6 years (range: 5–30 years). Postoperatively, 42 eyes (93.4%) achieved favorable anatomical outcomes. All patients (100%) reported satisfaction with the cosmetic results. Conclusion: Limbal dermoid in children can affect both visual function and cosmesis, especially in school-aged patients. Most lesions are solitary, unilateral, and located in the inferotemporal limbus. Excision with limbal conjunctival autograft is a simple, low-cost, and reproducible surgical method that provides stable long-term outcomes with minimal postoperative care
