Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical and paraclinical features and using anticoagulants and corticosteroids in patients with moderate to critical COVID-19. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study collected medical information from 189 handwritten medical records of COVID-19 patients aged 18 years and older, hospitalized at My Phuoc General Hospital from October 2021 to March 2022. The use of anticoagulants and corticosteroids in COVID-19 patients was assessed according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.  Results: The proportion of patients with severe COVID-19 infection was the highest (60%). The average age of COVID-19 patients was 54.96 ± 15.43. The proportion of female patients (65.6%) was higher than that of male patients. The proportion of COVID-19 patients with comorbidities and lung lesions was 68.8% and 89.4%, respectively. The mean values of LYM and LYM% decreased compared to the reference threshold, while the ALT, AST and CRP parameters increased, accounting for 45%, 57.1% and 80.4%, respectively. The proportion of COVID-19 patients using corticosteroids and anticoagulants was 83.4% and 95.77%, respectively. Methylprednisolone and enoxaparin were the most commonly used corticosteroids and anticoagulants. Conclusion: Duration of corticosteroid and anticoagulant use did not significantly affect patient outcomes
