Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and evaluate the treatment results of spinal injuries due to workplace accidents at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital over a 3-year period (2023-2025). Method: A retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 567 patients admitted due to workplace accidents with spinal injuries. Data on gender, cause of injury, fracture location, treatment method (conservative/surgical), and recovery results were collected from medical records. Results: A total of 567 cases were examined, with 290 male and 277 female. The primary cause was falls from heights while harvesting pepper (525 cases), with other causes accounting for 42 cases. The most common spinal fracture sites were L1 (60%) and D12 (35%). Surgery was performed on 33.3% (189 cases), while the remaining 66.7% (378 cases) were treated conservatively. Out of outcomes, 515 cases recovered well (90.8%), 48 cases had mild sequelae after 4 weeks of physical therapy and recovered well (8.5%), and 4 cases experienced complete paralysis (0.7%). Conclusion: Treatment of spinal cord injuries due to work-related accidents at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital showed a high recovery rate. Measures to prevent work-related accidents and improve initial first aid capabilities are needed
