Abstract

Objective: Describe the characteristics of median nerve conduction in patients with chronic gout at Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital in 2022. Subjects and research methods: cross-sectional description, convenient sampling. Results: The average age of the control group was 53.25 ± 11.70, the group of chronic gout patients was 55.45 ± 11.68. The average age of the two study groups was not statistically different with a 95% confidence interval (p > 0.05). The height and weight indicators of the two groups were also not statistically different (p>0.05). The results of median nerve conduction in the group of chronic gout patients showed a prolongation of the latent motor and sensory time; a decrease in the speed of sensory conduction and the amplitude of motor and sensory response compared to the control group were all statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: There are motor and sensory lesions of the median nerve in patients with chronic gout.
