Abstract

Objective: To assess the current management of dyslipidemia at the Department of Cardiology–Geriatrics, Can Tho City General Hospital.

Methods: A retrospective, descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 600 patients diagnosed with dyslipidemia and treated at the Department of Cardiology–Geriatrics, Can Tho City General Hospital.

Result: Among the 600 patients, females predominated (65.3%). The most common age group was 65–89 years (56.7%), and cardiovascular disease was the most frequent comorbidity (62.5%). The majority of patients presented with mixed dyslipidemia (type IIb, 81.5%), characterized by elevated LDL-C and triglyceride levels and reduced HDL-C levels. Liver and renal function were mostly normal or showed mild to moderate impairment. Statins were widely prescribed, predominantly atorvastatin 20 mg, in accordance with cardiovascular risk-reduction targets.
