Abstract

Objectives: To describe the clinical characteristics and evaluate the outcomes of nursing care after surgery for lower extremity soft tissue injuries at Viet Duc University Hospital.

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on 50 patients with lower extremity soft tissue injuries treated at the Department of Lower Limb Surgery, Viet Duc University Hospital, from April 2025 to September 2025. Data were collected through clinical observation, structured questionnaires, and medical record review to assess clinical features and nursing care outcomes after surgery.

Results: Male patients accounted for 64%, and the age group from 18 to 50 years accounted for 82%. Traffic accidents were the main cause of soft tissue injuries (58%). The most common injury site was the lower leg (62%), with wound sizes of 5–10 cm accounting for 56%. After 7 days of nursing care, 94% of wounds were dry without signs of infection, and 80% of patients reported no pain or mild pain. The average length of hospital stay was 6.07 ± 1.11 days. Nursing care activities were fully implemented.

Conclusions: Postoperative nursing care for lower extremity soft tissue injuries at Viet Duc University Hospital achieved favorable outcomes, contributing to pain reduction, infection prevention, shortened hospital stay, and improved patient mobility.
