ASSESSMENT OF CESAREAN SECTION RATES ACCORDING TO THE ROBSON CLASSIFICATION AT NGHE AN GENERAL FRIENDSHIP HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the indications for cesarean section based on the Robson classification system at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital during the 2024–2025 period.


Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 201 pregnant women with a gestational age of 28 weeks or more who gave birth at the hospital from June 1, 2024 to June 1, 2025. Variables were collected and categorized according to the Robson ten-group classification system.


Results: The overall cesarean section rate was 41.8%. Within the 10 Robson groups, Group 5 (multiparous with a previous cesarean section scar) was the largest contributor to the overall cesarean section rate (38.1%), followed by Group 1 (nulliparous, spontaneous labor) at 21.4%, and Group 2 at 11.9%.


Conclusion: The cesarean section rate at the hospital remains high, primarily driven by women with previous cesarean section scars and nulliparous women. Intervention strategies should focus on the first-time mother group (nulliparous) to reduce future cesarean section rates.
