Abstract

Objective: To evaluate surgical outcomes, complications, and survival following liver transplantation at a single center.

Patients and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients undergoing liver transplantation between August 2018 and March 2026 at University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City. Clinical characteristics, complications, mortality, and survival outcomes were analyzed. Statistical analysis included Chi-square test and Kaplan–Meier survival analysis.

Results: A total of 67 patients underwent liver transplantation (58 living donor and 9 deceased donor). The mean age was 54.3±1.5 years, with 74.6% males. The most common complications were portal vein stenosis (4.5%) and graft rejection (8.9%). The mortality rate was 10.4%, mainly due to pneumonia. Survival rates at 1, 3, and 5 years were 90.8%, 82.3%, and 76%, respectively.

Conclusion: Liver transplantation is an effective treatment for end-stage liver disease and early hepatocellular carcinoma.
