Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-printed surgical guides and positioning plate in maxillomandibular complex rotational surgery for the treatment of facial asymmetry.

Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 20 patients with facial asymmetry undergoing orthognathic surgery with three-dimensional virtual surgical plans and using surgical cutting guides, positioning plates that were digitally designed and fabricated using metal 3D-printed.

Results: All patients (100%) had 3D post-surgery reconstruction file and the surgical plan matched. The mean surgical time was 3.11 ± 0.25 hours. At 6 months post-op: 90% patients achieved facial symmetry, 5% had mild coronal asymmetry, and 5% required additional intervention.

Conclusion: The application of 3D-printed cutting guides and positioning plates enhances surgical accuracy and reduces operative time.
