THE OUTCOMES OF PARTIAL CEMENTLESS LONG STEM HIP REPLACEMENT FOR UNSTABLE INTERTROCHANTERIC FRACTURES IN PATIENTS ABOVE 80- YEARS-OLD AT THANH NHÀN HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and to evaluate the surgical outcomes of treatment for intertrochanteric fractures.
Methods: A combined retrospective–prospective descriptive study was conducted on 33 patients aged over 80 years with cementless bipolar long stem hemiarthroplasty for intertrochanteric femoral fractures at Thanh Nhan Hospital from January 2024 to January 2026.
Results: The mean age was 85.36 ± 3.26 years, with the 80–85 age group accounting for 54.5%. Most injuries were caused by low-energy injury (84.85%). Functional outcomes assessed by the Harris Hip Score showed good and excellent results in 78,15% of patients.
Conclusion: Cementless bipolar long stem hemiarthroplasty outcomes in 33 patients over 80 years of age with unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures, demonstrating a high recovery rate, low complication burden, and significant improvement in postoperative quality of life. This technique represents a valuable treatment option.
