TREATMENT OUTCOMES OF ORAL VINORELBINE FOR RECURRENT AND METASTATIC NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER AT THAI BINH GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: Evaluation of treatment outcomes in patients with recurrent or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer treated with oral vinorelbine at Thai Binh General Hospital from January 2023 to June 2025
Method: Retrospective descriptive study evaluating the treatment outcomes of 47 patients with recurrent or metastatic lung adenocarcinoma, who had failed previous treatment regimens, had poor performance status, or refused intravenous chemotherapy, and were treated with oral Vinorelbine at the Thai Binh Oncology Center from January 2023 to June 2025
Results: Clinical response reached 44.6%. Regarding objective response: partial response (PR) was recorded in 16/47 patients, accounting for 34.1%. Stable disease (SD) was observed in 36.2% of patients, while 29.7% showed progressive disease (PD). The mean progression-free survival (PFS) was 5.7 months, with a median of 5.5 months (range: 3.1 to 15.5 months). The mean overall survival (OS) was 8.1 ± 0.4 months, with a median of 7.4 months
Conclusion: The most common age group was 70–79 years (40.4%), with a male-to-female ratio of 1.47:1. Smoker prevalence was 57.4%. The most frequent clinical symptoms were cough (53.2%) and chest pain (40.4%). Primary tumors were nearly equally distributed between both lungs, with peripheral tumors being more predominant; the left upper lobe (LUL) had the highest incidence rate. The majority of tumors were ≥ 3 cm. Metastasis rates to the contralateral hilar and ipsilateral mediastinal lymph nodes were 46.8% and 59.6%, respectively. Post-treatment: The partial response (PR) rate was 34.1%; the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 5.5 months, and the median overall survival (OS) was 7.4 months.
