Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of early postoperative complications in cesarean deliveries during the initial implementation phase at Nha Be General Hospital from January 1, 2025, to August 15, 2025.

Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study with analytical components was conducted through retrospective review of medical records of 44 pregnant women who underwent cesarean section at Nha Be General Hospital between January 1, 2025, and August 15, 2025.

Results: The postoperative complication rate was 6.9% (3/44 cases): stitch-site infection (1/3), wound discharge (1/3), and uterine atony after cesarean section (1/3). Five cases (11.4%) required transfer to the pediatric hospital. All three women had no chronic medical conditions, carried full-term pregnancies, and underwent elective cesarean section for obstetric indications. Spinal anesthesia was used, and the operative time ranged from 60 to 75 minutes. Neonatal conditions were stable after birth. All complications were detected early and managed promptly, with no prolonged severe adverse outcomes. The length of hospital stay was 6–7 days, and all patients were discharged in stable condition.

Conclusion: The results indicate initial success in the implementation of the cesarean section technique; however, continued investment in human resources and medical equipment is needed, particularly in neonatal resuscitation.
