Abstract

Objective: To describe the dental prosthetic status among individuals wearing dental prostheses in Ninh Binh Province in 2026.

Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 122 individuals wearing dental prostheses in Ninh Binh Province in 2026. Participants underwent clinical examinations and direct interviews to assess the type of dental prostheses, duration of use, retention, stability, speech adaptation, aesthetics, and satisfaction with the prostheses. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0.

Results: Males accounted for 55.7% of participants, and the 45–60-year age group represented the highest proportion (43.4%). Fixed dental prostheses were the most common type (72.1%), followed by combined prostheses (20.5%), implant-supported prostheses (4.9%), and removable prostheses (2.5%). A total of 73.8% of participants had used their prostheses for less than five years. The proportions of acceptable and good prostheses regarding retention and stability were 54.1% and 21.3%, respectively; 50.8% of participants had a short speech adaptation period, and 91.8% were satisfied with prosthetic aesthetics.

Conclusion: Fixed dental prostheses were the most common type among individuals wearing dental prostheses in Ninh Binh Province. Most prostheses showed acceptable retention, stability, and aesthetic outcomes. Regular follow-up and post-prosthetic care should be enhanced to improve treatment outcomes.
