Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to describe the current treatment status of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis at Hai Duong City Medical Center in 2022.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 89 chronic kidney disease patients receiving hemodialysis treatment at Hai Duong City Medical Center from May to July 2022. Data were collected using the SF-36 questionnaire to assess patients’ physical and mental health, combined with several treatment outcome indicators during hemodialysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 software.

Results: The mean physical health score was 41.6 ± 17.3, which was lower than the mean mental health score of 60.5 ± 10.5. Most patients had stable conditions after periodic hemodialysis (76.4%). However, several complications during treatment were still reported, including post-dialysis fatigue (39.3%), intradialytic hypotension (13.5%), and muscle cramps (10.1%). Most patients showed good treatment adherence (80.9%).

Conclusion: Chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis at Hai Duong City Medical Center had relatively stable treatment conditions; however, physical health was still significantly affected and several complications remained common during treatment. Comprehensive care, health education, and psychological support should be strengthened to improve treatment outcomes and patients’ quality of life.
