EVALUATION OF TREATMENT OUTCOMES OF METHOTREXATE FOR ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AT NAM DINH OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY HOSPITAL, 2021–2025

Abstract
Objectives: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients with ectopic pregnancy and to evaluate the outcomes of treatment using methotrexate.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 160 patients diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy who were selected to receive Methotrexate treatment at the Obstetrics Department of Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.
Results: The success rate of ectopic pregnancy treatment with methotrexate was 82.5%. Methotrexate was administered at a dose of 1 mg/kg body weight, with a maximum of three doses. Patients with an ectopic mass size ≤1.5 cm on ultrasound had a treatment success rate of 92.9%. Patients with an initial β-hCG level ≤1000 IU/L had a success rate of 91.9%. Smaller ectopic mass size and lower initial β-hCG levels were associated with higher treatment success rates.
Conclusion: Methotrexate therapy for ectopic pregnancy has been successfully implemented at Nam Dinh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital..
