EFFICACY OF COMBINED INTRAVITREAL ANTI-VEGF INJECTION AND MICROPULSE LASER IN THE TREATMENT OF DIABETIC MACULAR EDEMA
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of combined intravitreal anti-VEGF injection and micropulse laser in the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME).
Methods: A non-controlled interventional study combining retrospective and prospective data on 38 eyes with persistent DME after at least three anti-VEGF injections. BCVA and central retinal thickness (CRT) were assessed at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months.
Results: BCVA improved from 0.61 to 0.47 (p<0.05). CRT decreased from 420 ± 80 µm to 310 ± 60 µm (p<0.01). Better outcomes were observed in eyes without DRIL and with lower baseline CRT.
Conclusion: Micropulse laser is an effective and safe adjunctive therapy for persistent DME.
