CLINICAL AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LOWER COLORECTAL POLYPS 1 CM AT VIET TIEP FRIENDSHIP HOSPITAL, HAI PHONG, 2023

Abstract
Objectives: Description of the clinical and histopathological characteristics of patients with colorectal polyps under 1 cm at Viet Tiep Hospital, Hai Phong in 2023.
Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study using a convenient sampling method and a pre-designed questionnaire.
Results: 74% of patients in the study were over 50 years old, with a history of colorectal polyps being the most common (38%). A total of 150 patients had 513 polyps removed, with 53.3% having three or more polyps and an average polyp size of 4.4 ± 1.63 mm. The most common type (Type 0-Is) was sessile (62%), and JNET classification was predominantly JNET 1 (88.7%). Histopathologically, low-grade dysplastic adenomas predominated (51.3%), followed by hyperplastic polyps (46.3%).
Conclusion: Polyps under 1 cm are mostly characterized by multifocal lesions, sessile in form, corresponding to JNET 1 images, and their histopathological nature is primarily low-grade dysplastic adenomas or hyperplastic polyps in middle-aged and older patients.
