CHARACTERISTICS OF HEPATIC STEATOSIS AND LIVER FIBROSIS ASSESSED BY FIBROSCAN IN PATIENTS WITH METABOLIC DYSFUNCTION-ASSOCIATED STEATOTIC LIVER DISEASE

Abstract
Objectives: To determine the levels of hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis using 2D ultrasound and FibroScan in patients with Management of Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatotic Liver disease (MASLD).
Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 117 patients diagnosed with fatty liver via ultrasound at Military Medical Hospital 354 from June 2025 to June 2026, all of whom underwent FibroScan examination. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software.
Results: On 2D ultrasound, grade II fatty liver accounted for the highest proportion at 66.7%, followed by grade I at 29.1% and grade III at 4.3%. The mean Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) value was 290.71 ± 41.62 dB/m, with the highest rate of S3 steatosis at 47%. The mean Liver Stiffness Measurement (LSM) was 6.01 ± 2.23 kPa; the majority of patients exhibited fibrosis stages F0 and F1, at 54.7% and 22.2%, respectively. There was a significant correlation between CAP and LSM indices and the number of metabolic disorder factors (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Hepatic steatosis is the predominant manifestation on FibroScan in MASLD patients; however, significant liver fibrosis is not commonly observed.
