ROBOTIC URETERAL REIMPLANTATION INTO THE BLADDER: A CASE SERIES AND CLINICAL OUTCOMES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Ureteral reimplantation is the standard treatment for distal ureteral stricture. However, open surgery is associated with multiple complications and prolonged recovery time. Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative with enhanced precision.
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility, safety, and short-term outcomes of robotic ureteral reimplantation into the bladder.
Methods: A retrospective case series of patients who underwent robotic surgery at Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, from July 2025 to March 2026. Variables collected included patient characteristics, indications, surgical techniques, perioperative outcomes, and postoperative follow-up.
Results: A total of n = 13 patients were included. The mean operative time was 172,31 ± 45,88 minutes, estimated blood loss was 62,69 ± 113,44 mL, and the mean hospital stay was 3,57 ± 1,74 days. There was one intraoperative complication classified as Grade II. At 3-month follow-up, the success rate was 92,31%.
Conclusion: Robotic ureteral reimplantation into the bladder is a safe and effective technique with promising short-term outcomes for distal ureteral reconstruction.
