Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the outcomes of upper blepharoplasty at Hanoi Medical University Hospital.
Subjects and methods: A prospective descriptive study was conducted on 124 patients who underwent upper blepharoplasty between January 2022 and June 2024. Surgical outcomes were assessed by a 4-point Likert scale. Patient-reported outcomes were assessed using the Blepharoplasty Outcome Evaluation (BOE) questionnaire before surgery and at 1 and 3 months postoperatively.
Results: The mean age of the participants was 44 ± 14 years, and 84% were female. At 3 months postoperatively, surgical outcomes were rated as excellent in 82% of patients, good in 16%, and fair in 1.6%; no patient had a poor outcome. The mean total BOE score increased significantly from 25 ± 15 preoperatively to 74 ± 13 at 1 month and 81 ± 14 at 3 months after surgery (p < 0.001). Postoperative complications were generally minor, decreased over time, and had almost completely resolved by 3 months.
Conclusion: Upper eyelid blepharoplasty at Hanoi Medical University Hospital achieved favourable surgical outcomes, with a low complication rate and high patient satisfaction. Surgical outcomes continued to improve during the first three months after surgery.
