COMPLIANCE WITH SURGICAL SITE INFECTION PREVENTION BUNDLES AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS AMONG HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AT TAM ANH GENERAL HOSPITAL, 2025
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: The implementation of surgical site infection (SSI) prevention bundles has been shown to significantly reduce SSI rates. However, there are still limited studies on bundle compliance among healthcare providers in Vietnam.
Objectives: To describe the compliance rate and to analyze the association between demographic characteristics and compliance with SSI prevention bundles among healthcare providers.
Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among 574 healthcare providers and 134 elective surgical cases at Tam Anh General Hospital from May to October 2025. This study used demographic questionnaire and an observation checklist to monitor compliance with SSI prevention bundles. Descriptive statistics and multivariable logistic regression analysis were applied to describe the compliance rate and analyze its related factors with compliance to SSI prevention bundles.
Results: The overall compliance rate was 37%. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the independent variables, including department, type of surgery, surgical method and operative time, explained 31% of compliance with the SSI prevention bundles. Among these, department was the only independent variable that was statistically significantly associated with compliance to SSI prevention bundles (p < 0,05).
Conclusions: Compliance with SSI prevention bundles among healthcare providers was suboptimal. In the future, synchronized interventions are needed, with particular attention to department-related factors, to improve compliance and thereby reduce SSI rates.
